Believe it or not there is a right way and wrong way to talk to prospects for the first time. I know that a major problem with Network Marketing is people are never trained or taught how they should communicate or speak with people.
Having been in sales for many years I was able to become somewhat good at this before I became a Network Marketer.
So today I'm going to give you some very valuable tips on what you should do and shouldn't do when talking to people.
The right way to talk to people about your Network Marketing business is a lot like talking about your favorite hobby or a good movie that you recently saw.
By talking to people I mean after you've qualified them for your time and you deem them serious enough to talk with and interview them to see of you'd like them as your business partner. (That's a whole other subject though).
The first thing I want to talk about is: POSTURE.
If you've gone through my "11-Day Training Camp" you'll recall that I talked about this subject before.
Why am I talking about it again? Because it's that important.
Posture is the attitude and mindset that you must convey to other people when you're talking to them whether it's on the phone or in person.
If you don't have posture when you're speaking with people, people will always be running from you. Like you have the plague.
Because when you don't have posture you sound like a car salesmen using your best pitch. And it just sounds like B.S. It insults people's intelligence.
And just the plain and simple fact that people don't like being sold. People hate it when you try and sell something to them.
Nobody likes selling and nobody likes being sold.
There's definitely a fine line when you talk to people about your business. Obviously you're trying to get them to join your business but at the same time you don't want to come across like you're trying to sell them a vacuum cleaner.
I pulled this straight out of "Training Day Camp 8"
"If you look up posture in the dictionary it talks about attitude or to create a certain impression.
What this means is. When you're talking to a prospect on the phone or face to face there's a certain attitude or impression that you need to convey. If you're conveying the wrong attitude or impression your prospect will sense that and he'll turn cheek and run.
The attitude and thoughts that you need to have when you're talking to new prospects about joining your opportunity are "I don't care if this person joins me or not" or simply "I don't care" of course keep your energy and enthusiasm but don't get excited or jubilant.
If you're thinking "I really, really hope that this person joins my opportunity" they're going to sense desperation and people don't like desperation.
1. If you sound desperate you don't come across as being a leader and people won't want to follow you.
2. When people sense desperation they automatically think that you are trying to sell them something. And remember like I said before nobody likes being sold.
Trust me its not easy at first to try and stay calm. And not get excited when you think that you have a great prospect that's about to join your opportunity. But you have to if you want to see success in this industry."
Another big secret to being successful in this business is making people come to you first and chasing you down.
Why?
Obviously for many reasons but one of the big reasons is; when people chase you down you hold all the cards and have all the power and therefore your mindset is completely different then someone who is out peddling their opportunity on the street like a beggar.
In order to succeed and become rich in this business one of the skills you have to master is; "How to make people hunt you down instead of you hunting them down."
Then you're seen as a professional instead of beggar peddling your opportunity like a door to door salesman.
